The release of this double CD marks the 50th anniversary of The Corries' very first performance. The music has been remastered from the original TV footage, and is the soundtrack of the DVD of the same title.

Featuring many of their most popular songs - funny songs, rousing songs, heart-rending songs and of course the anthemic Flower Of Scotland.

The Ruby

The Ruby, originally released on Scotland's Whirlie Records in 1997, is Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham's follow-up to 1995's The Pearl, which was their first collaboration as a duo, even though they have worked together on various projects since 1988. Among the tracks here are blistering reels, rousing pipe marches, spirited jigs, and haunting airs, including the magnificent title track composed by Phil. Also inlaid in this gleaming mosaic of music are separate, priceless medleys featuring Estonian and early American tunes, each played flawlessly by the duo. Their fiddle/accordion pairings, in fact, are nothing short of sensational-often freewheeling, always masterfully controlled, creating an impact impossible to resist. From first to last note, The Ruby captures two tremendous talents in peak performance, culminating in a triumph of substance and style, taste and touch.

Anna Massie, winner of the Young Traditional Musician award of 2003, plays a mean guitar�and mandolin, banjo and fiddle! And yes, she�s young, cute, bubbly and blonde.
