Mac-Umba is following a long established tradition by merging elements of Brasilean and Carribean rhythms with Scottish melodies. In Brazil, Mac-Umba is a religion which combines Christian effigies with gods from the Yoruba pantheon and utilises drumming as part of its ritual. In Scotland Mac-Umba means 'son of Umba'.
